We've been discussing it for sometime now and would appreciate your comments or perspective on the secondary education for Gifted kids. Some of you may have kids already in high-school, some of you may be looking for the options!!

Thoughts? Your help is much appreciated.

All 3 programs have advantages.
For students who know what they want to do IB can be very good. I f students are gifted across the board, as some are, AP or cluster class give them more opportunity to study in a wider subject area than IB does if the programs offer many subject areas.
The one problem with AP is Ontario universities are more reluctant to accept them than the provinces and in the United States.
AP is cheaper than IB to offer --- it does not cost more to offer AP --- the students just pay for exams etc
IB is more expensive to offer.
Cluster classes give students an opportunity to be stimulated both intellectually and a chance to interact socially with other like students.
Both AP and IB give that social interaction too.
So all have merit and it is up to the students needs which is best

Helen, Thanks for the information specially the one with AP. I understand some kids do complain about 'Lot of work' in the IB program and I'd love to hear it from the kids or parents with kids in IB program to understand their view. How is it preparing them for the university?

I think that around 80 percent of students drop out of IB after the first one or two years. Also, if you don't plan on going to Euorpe for the rest of you education, it is not worth ding IB. If you want to go o the US, AP will come in handy. If you are staying here, Academic or Ap will work fine. Gifted may seem fun, but remember that Universities don't really look into that.
